Hollywood star George Clooney may soon add a Tony Award to his collection of accolades. The 63-year-old actor has been nominated for his performance in the play Good Night, and Good Luck, as announced by the American Theatre Wing, the organization that presents the awards, in New York.
Alongside Clooney, other notable nominees include Mia Farrow, Bob Odenkirk, and Nicole Scherzinger. The productions with the most nominations this year are Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending, each receiving ten nominations.
The Tony Awards are recognized as the most prestigious honors for musicals and plays in the United States, focusing on productions that have been newly staged in one of the approximately 40 Broadway theaters in New York’s theater district over the past year. The nominations are determined by a committee of around 50 theater experts. This year’s Tony Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 8.
